Blanchard School Principal Jessica Huizenga has recently discussed with me her desire to complete her Doctoral Dissertation and pursue other opportunities in the field of education. Subsequent to our discussions, Mrs. Huizenga has resigned from her position in our school system. It is my intent to advertise for a permanent Blanchard Middle School principal in January, for the 2011/2012 school year, to capitalize on a larger and stronger pool of candidates than would be available at this late date.
In the interim I have assigned Abbot School Principal, Rose Vetere, as the Interim Principal of the Blanchard Middle School for next year. Mrs. Vetere is a not only a former middle school principal; but has been a grade 3-5 principal for many years and is familiar with the needs of students transitioning into and through the middle school.
Our current Abbot/Nabnasset Assistant Principal Vito Umbro will hold the position of Interim Abbot School Principal, and elementary teacher Joanna Perron will assume the Interim Abbot/Nabnasset Assistant Principal position for next year. Mrs. Perron possesses an elementary Assistant Principal/Principal license with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
